Details: On 05/19/2017, Investigator responded to a shooting at 1100 Chickamauga Avenue. Upon arrival victim was being transported to UT ER for treatment for gunshot wound.
Investigators with the Knoxville Police Department apprehended two suspects wanted for questioning in the shooting death of Shanna Harmon on May 19.
At a home in the 3100 block of Huron Street, one of the suspects was apprehended. Investigators investigated the house for homicide-related evidence.
Shanna Harmon, 28, was shot just before 3:30 a.m. Friday near Chickamauga Ave and Oswald Street. When officers arrived, Harmon was unresponsive and was taken to UT Medical for life-threatening injuries. As a result of her injuries, she died.
The victim and a male were having a verbal disagreement before the man shot Harmon, according to the preliminary inquiry. The man sped away from the crime site.
Minutes thereafter, patrol officers discovered a car with a stolen license plate near the gunshot site on Mineral Springs Avenue, behind Food City.
The motorist ran as cops sought to execute a traffic stop on the car. The guy went off the road and into a creek near the Broadway Shopping Center after a brief chase.
Officers were unable to find the individual who escaped from the vehicle on foot. The suspect’s connection to the earlier shooting is unknown, according to police.
